Omer, the manager of the kayak club where I paddle, is a man of many kayak journeys around the world. On one of them, on a remote island, he found a beautiful lava stone. In addition to its beauty, it had a perfect natural hole for hanging, exactly in the center, in just the right place. Omer gave me the stone and asked me to "just put a loop for hanging," and so I did. But something unexpected happened: the stone slipped from my hands, fell to the floor, and broke! Truly frustrating.

I told Omer and set about saving the situation. I glued it, inserted rivets, and wrapped the break with a decorative silver belt. The break actually improved the piece, which turned out beautiful. How wonderful that it broke.

Aviram (a fictitious name) came to me to commission a special piece of jewelry for his wife's birthday. He told me that their daughter has SLO syndrome, a condition characterized by the fusion of two toes on the foot.

Aviram asked for a pendant in the shape of a foot, with a heart where the two toes meet, inscribed with "SLO" and set with a small blue stone.

I approached the work with the sensitivity it deserved, aware that I had been entrusted with something of very deep emotional significance. Aviram expressed his satisfaction with the result.
